Photographer's Note

Every year BBC Radio 1 organizes somewhere in the UK festivals of pop music called Big Weekends. It takes 2.5 weekend days and gathers dozens of popular musicians. This year it was organized in Stewart Park in Middlesbrough. Those of you who have followed my TrekEarth gallery may remember that I live across the street from Stewart Park and so whether I liked it or not, this was a Big Weekend for me. I must say I was very impressed with the smooth organization of the festival. I think they sold 30,000 tickets per day, and yet except for the blocked roads my life was undisturbed. I managed to buy tickets for one of the days. Since little girls like my daughter are nowadays fans of Little Mix (something corresponding to Spice Girls in the past), I picked Sunday. On this day Little Mix started around the noon, followed by Zara Larsson, Jax Jones, Rita Ora, Mabel etc.

You see here a scene photographed in front of the main stage. People were slowly crowding in anticipation for the Little Mix. For those of you who don’t know it, Little Mix is a band of four quite diverse girls and these four girls picnicking in the foreground resembled them very much to me. Sadly, I was not allowed to take in my camera so this was taken with the phone.
