Bathed in gold (to Aimilios) Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a "no sun" sunset photo. Last November, during my 12 day stay at beautiful Ioannina Prefecture, I found a good spot with great panoramic view of Pamvotis lake, the island of the lake with its picturesque village (front) and the vibrant, historic town of Ioannina (back). It was on the road that leads to the wonderful traditional village of Ligiades. I kept returning there, day after day, at diferent hours, trying diferent framings, compositions and camera settings. I have already uploaded two more photos from taken from the same spot, Sunset at Lake Pamvotis and Ioannina, the lake and the village.

*** Dedicated to TE member, Aimilios (Aimiliospet), whose village (Ligiades) is not only the best "balcony" above the lake, but also a wonderful traditional "stone" village with lots of beauties of its own.

Hi Hercules,

Let me be the first to say "Wow"!.

Lovely panaromic shot. The colours, clusters of buildings, the twinkling lights...all of them have come out so well. The waters bathed in golden colour is accentuating the shot.

What I find slightly distracting is the land at the bottom of the image.

Hello Hercules,
and your friend must be very glad of getting such a wonderful dedication.
This is a wonderful shot not only for the view but specially for the golden tones you got on it, it looks so nice, so pure and clear gold!
Apart all of this we can still manage to watch the typical houses downthere lightened by the street lamps. There's also this wide open curve made my the river which fits so well here taking the eyes from the foreground to the background.
Indeed a fantastic shot my friend!

I like the alternating patches of dark & light in horizontal bands, in this superb panorama. Good orange sunset colours, & marvellous detail & sharpness. I also like the reverse u shape of the river, & the fg reflections. Tfs!

A nice dedication to Aimilios! What I like is this place below, it is nicely placed in between the two 'area's' of the lake which surrounds it. It's good that the tip of the island on the right side isn't cropped off. So well framed! Also spectacular warm evening colours, nice lights from the houses below, properly dimmed by F14. Great definition, contrast etcetera! The land below and on top don't bother me at all. Lovely scene!

Hercules, bravo for your tenacity. That is the exact ingredient for a sucessfull landscape photography. Anyone that thinks that a great shot is just a matter of luck is completely wrong. This are one of the many things that I learned during my last year at TE and you just gave a wonderful proof for that.
I don't have anything to say about this shot. It is magical and perfect and your patience paye out extremely well. It seems to be a long exposure. The silky water gives that clue, but you didn't mention the shutter time (2-4s ?). Am I right?

una foto del atardecer sin cielo y sin sol, pero con un POV alto que nos da una gran profundidad de imagen, una iluminación espectacular, unos colores de tonos dorados muy bonitos, y evidentemente, con un precioso paisaje.
Me gusta ver la iluminación de la ciudad y de las casas, y los reflejos en el agua brillante.

Me da la impresión de seguir medio desaparecido todavía. Pero reconozco que en todo este tiempo he estado siguiendo las fotos que poníais y sabía que más tarde o más temprano debía de recaer en esta foto.

¿Hace falta decir algo de la foto?

PD: en los últimos meses he estado sacándome un título y si todo va bien podré trabajar ya en verano de lo que he estudiado

Te mantendré informado (pero ten presente que me va a permitir viajar mucho.
