Photographer’s Note
After seeing some beautiful photos of Cambodia recently, especially Sothy's shots, I decided to go through my old photos of Cambodia from my trip in the summer of 2005. Using an old 4.0 megapixel digital Canon I was truly inspired in Angkor.
It's next to impossible to come up with original photos of Angkor Wat. I don't even think this is that original, but I don't recall seeing one like this before. Not sure if these boats are always there.
I really liked the three boats in the moat around Angkor. I also liked the theme of three's in this photo, as I was able to place the three towers of the main temple, between the three towers of the entrance gate.
It's an older photo, and hence the quality isn't great, and is a bit noisy, but I wanted to post a photo of Cambodia (and that usually ends up of one of Angkor).
Hope you like it.

This really looks like an old photo, and although the detail is not sharp, the atmosphere is classic exotica.

Hi David,
You know what, this is absolutely an original shot. Very nice in sepia mood and also very nice in perspective where you place the 3 boats in the frame. It is so unusual to see boats in that area. I am looking forward to seeing your shots from Cambodia in the near future. Thanks for refering my name in the note.

I do like the water scene with the trio of boats standing in the harbor and those familiar towers in the distance. It is difficult to capture something unique and i think you have it here.

D: wonderfully moody composition. Your fine eye is evidenced here even with the modest camera you mentioned in your note. Fine stuff. regards, c

Hello Victor..older photos have greater appeal..ive always supported the idea of a shot taken on roll, print and scanned later..the grainy output on this one is perfec with the reddish hue..the boats to me is the subject of this compo..they hold the compo together
Maybe you could have titled your shots "Triplets" :D
Cheers

An interesting shot where the top half looks like B&W and the bottom in sepia. Yes the three boats make for an interesting FG.
Well done.

Hello David
A superb & original shot. Never seen boats near Angkor (I went there a few months after you). Placement of the three boats in the frame is excellent & as you say, the rule of three is complete with the three merus of Angkor. Wonderful shot where sepia does look beautiful.

Hello David,
for me too it's important to come up with original shots of places that have been shown a billion times. I'm really not a specialist of that place but it's true that I've never seen one like this.
The tones are crazy. I don't like sepia, but this one is beautiful actually.
I like that you use the boats as an "excuse" to show a nice cityscape of Angkor.
I think the picture lacks contrasts to really stand out. I made a ws to show what I mean.

David,
great composition and surreal mood with the monochromatic presentation. Just a pity that the scanning process made some loss in the quality.

You got an original shot of Angkor there. I find it is pretty effective.
There are some places in the world where I just have to have the classic shot. The sunrise in Angkor in front of the pond for me was a must and I posted the same picture everybody does. I find a classic doesn't mean it is a bad shot, it is just a popular and effective spot to have a nice memory of your trip.
All this to say I like this shot! hihihi
