Photographer’s Note
Hopefully somebody can help me out that has seen or been to this village before. I only stopped in this village for a short while. What I do know is that it is in Hadramawt, and is in between the villages of Seef, and Al Khureibah. But unfortunately, I forget the name of this village.
I had just spent a good amount of time in Seef, and was heading towards Al Khureibah to spend the night when I noticed this interesting house in this village. All the villages in this area are beyond beautiful! But I really liked this small one, with the house perched on the tall rock cliff. As I spent 3 weeks traveling independently through Yemen, I have photos of some places that so far haven't been posted, or places with few pictures. I am trying to fill out the Yemen gallery on this site.
The weather had been sunny and blazingly hot all day, when mid-afternoon, darker clouds rolled in, but I liked the contrast it presented against the mud villages. I would have liked to add some human element to this photo, but it was utterly deserted at this time (maybe due to the weather, maybe not) but this photo really does convey the mood I felt while walking through this village.

Beautiful shot David! You are right ot point out the contrast between the stormy dark clouds and the warm earthen village, it is very effective. Nice composition too.

A nice contrast colours between the building with grey sky, the village's architectures look interesting and very middle east. Despite the sky not on it best but your composition make it still a nice presentation.
Thanks David for this shot and for the note too.

Hi David,
You seem to have had a very interesting trip to Yemen! I envy you as I have the impression that it's a gorgeous country...I wonder what amazing view there is from these perched houses, do you have a picture of that, too? ;o)I imagine that the clouds were welcome as it must be pretty hot in this geographical zone..
Thanks for sharing your trip impressions!

outstanding shot, David, the rock cliff looks like a serpent embracing the building. love the earth-toned colours and different textures, and how the palm tree adds a nice colour accent to the scene. very well seen and presented.

Hi David,
you did a wonderful portrait of the unnamed village. The picture is well composed, it needs no foreground. The house on the rock! I saw something else too: some houses are renovated, maintaining the style. Well done!
best regards

Hi David. Hope you will find out the name of this village through some TE member or someone else. Liked the contrasting colour. Some resemblance with a ruined fortress. The plasters (or mud?) peeled off taken nicely. Regards.

David,
wonderful contrast of warm and cold colors in a good distribution respecting more or less the 1/3 rule. My only suggestion here would be placing the highest house, almost a tower, more to the left - more off center. A foreground element could also enhance more the sense of depthness. Nice shot I like it!

Hey Victor..
One would find these earth colour ruins in greece and turky..places which have the birth of ancient civilizations..like the prevailing reddish glow generated by the ocnditions..a good apt effect..wish you had taken more of the ruins..
If this had been intact..would resemble one of the monastries on hilltops of Tibet

hello, david. nice, non-typical image. non-typical in a sense that we do not frequently see images from arabian peninsula with cloudy skies. the gray skies provide a nice background for the clay/earth village walls though. nicely captured character of the place. my compliments.

You have to go back and check the name!! Or maybe, try Google Earth! Very good photo anyway.
