Photographer’s Note
The flower fields in the west of Holland are at their best in April and May. That’s when the spring bulbs, such as tulips and hyacinths are flowering. The cultivation of flower bulbs for commercial purposes started in Haarlem and the surrounding area about 400 years ago. The area between Haarlem and Leiden eventually became known as 'De bollenstreek' - the bulb district. For many years, a large part of the population earned their living from bulbs, whether in nurseries, export, or in industries that supplied the sector. The town of Lisse regarded itself as the centre of the bulb-growing area, boasted a postmark that declared: "Lisse, the centre of the bulb district". The famous flower exhibition "de Keukenhof" can be found here.
The Netherlands produce approximately nine billion flower bulbs annually. Evenly distributed, this number would allow for almost two flower bulbs for every person on the planet. The tulip remains the most popular and recognizable bulb flower. Most people think of the tulip when they think of bulb flowers. The tulip is followed in popularity by the daffodil, the gladiolus, the lily and the crocus.

Superb idea to capture tulips! After so many conventional POVs with them, yours is revolutionary. The happy yellow parade of tulips against a bright blue sky looks fantastic. Congrats.

Hi Lucie, you must have lay flat to get this one, fantastic perspective used to great effect. The bright yellow flowers contrast beautifully with the blue sky. BTW I would recommend the west coast of Cyprus just north of Paphos. The Akamas peninsula, with its dramatic coast and the nature trail near Aphrodite's Baths is stunning. Never got to photogragh 70% of this due to my little mishap..

Hello Lucie, excellent POV; it is good to see an alternative POV for these tulip field shots.
The dark blue sky makes a good backdrop for the brightly coloured tulips.

Fabulous photo, Lucie. Taken with your new camera, one that I would like to have myself.
The very low viewpoint has made something special ouf of the lovely greens and yellow against the deep sky. I quite like the out of focus twigs in the foreground, and the way the furrow between the rows eventually leads to an absolute vanishing point. Fantastic quality in this shot, with its strong colours.

Andrew

Hi Lucie,
Fascinating and slightly surreal picture. I like the saturated colours and strong symmetry but what really makes it is of course the very original worm's-eye viewpoint, creating a sensation of almost being buried amongst the tulips.

Hi Lucie,
Great idea to get low in order to shoot the tulips with the beautiful cloudy blue sky as a backdrop. You must have been laying flat on the muddy ground. The symmetrical compo works well with this perspective. Great colors as usual.
Stay safe,
Ryan

Hi Lucie,
Beautiful shot with well saturated colors. I particularly like your point of view here. Not the typical view. Isn't that what photography is all about?

Hi Lucie,
congrats for this one! Your low POV is perfect... Light, grey sky, all is great.
I'm also a flickr user but it clearly not compare to TE. All is more superficial. Coments are not critiques but only "wow great" or "please come to our "Best of the Galaxy" pool" and so on... Only my own point of view... ;-)
Cheers,
Loïc

Hi Lucie,
This is a beautiful one of the tulip fields. I like the very low pov which gives very good depth.
The intense yellow and red colors against the dark blue sky work very well. I like all the twiggs in front as well.
Well done!
