Due anni fa esatti!
Durante la rivolta ungherese del ‘56, una donna sventolò festante dalla finestra il tricolore, ma la folla rumoreggiò: quella era la bandiera della Repubblica Popolare Ungherese con al centro la stella rossa cinta da due spighe di grano.
La donna tornò con la stessa bandiera, ma con un buco al centro, che divenne uno degli emblemi del ‘56, simbolo di libertà e della rivolta degli ungheresi contro l’oppressore straniero.
Questa bandiera sventola tuttora vicino ad un piccola lapide nel piazzale antistante il parlamento ungherese, proprio nello stesso luogo dove la rivolta fu soppressa dalle mitragliatrici sovietiche.

Exactly two years ago!
During the Hungarian revolt of the 1956, a woman waved from the window the tricolour flag, but the crowd didn't like that because it was the flag of the Hungarian popular Republic with, to the center, the red star and two grain ears.
The woman returned with the same flag, but with a hole to the center.
That flag became one of the symbols of the revolt.
This flag still waves close to a small monument in the large square near the hungarian parliament, just in the same place where the revolt was suppressed by Soviet machine-guns.
