Details of the carvings/sculptures in Pura Manik Bingin.

This was an experimental shot, really...trying to take a 'portrait' shot of sculpted figures, if I may take the liberty to say so! This is more than a closeup shot of sculpted figure (s), but I wanted to show the interplay between two (or three if you consider the OOF one) of them, using the technique of portrait photography (which once again I acknowledge is not at all my forte).

The colours of this village temple had attracted us because they were so very different from the other temples of Bali we’d seen. Almost completely deep grey/black in colour and the figurines sculpted on the gateway in bright red, it offered a striking colour combination.

There are two figurines visible in sharp focus, the bird like statuette on the left in deep grey & the lion-like face in red on the right (a part of the 'name' board). It appeared to me that these statuettes with snarling faces were readying for a ‘Face-off’. I used a narrow DOF to highlight these two creatures in stone. In the background, out of Focus is a colourful Boma face, having a similar menacing face.

Tried to make this close-up composition sitting down (on the pavement) to have the low POV. The striking colours of the sculptures in this temple were unique & striking. I do not know whether this closeup shot would appeal to the viewers. It's a portrait of a non-human kind (subjects) :-) Pls. do let me know.
