This structure is known as a "Barjeel" or the wind-tower. I am not sure if it is unique to this region but I see them every where on the older buildings and structures. The purpose of this tower is to catch a draft of wind from any of the four directions and channnel it in to the room below. This was the ancient air conditioner. In more modest buildings the barjeel was made out of gunny-cloth and bamboo sticks, but it is equally efficient. If I am not wrong the picture is from one of the heritage sites along the Dubai creek, known as Sheikh Saeed's House. Sorry PierreLouis Brenac, I just could not resist the explanation! I hope you do not mind :)

I read the comments here and I really dont know if this picture needs "fixing", maybe we can ignore the blemishes of your tiny camera ;) My eye tells me that this picture works for me! Specially the mirror effect of the lake and the way the trees are sticking out their fingers to the sky. Congratulations on a wonderful shot. Big smile for you :D
