To pineapple: Contrast

The color contrast is what captured my eye to begin with and that was the reason I wanted to take the shot.
There is hardly and enhancement here to the original colors (other than the fact my D80 is...

To GATTACA: colors

maybe a less saturated version would be better. I'll try to tweak this with PP.

To startacked: ND filter

I didn't.
Actually I try not to use filters at all when shooting in front of light spots (such as street lights) because the filter tends to enhance ghosting.

To Nina: Contrast

I did use PP to enhance saturation here.
This really is a matter of taste, I prefer saturated photos.
I agree that the green channel is a bit oversaturated. Maybe I should have increased...

Re: To Doron_L: Bonsoir, Doron

No problem :)
One more thing about night shots: if you use small aperture (say f/11 r even smaller), all bright spots of light (like street lamps) will have a star shap around them. This usually...

To markstaples: Castle

Actually the building to the right is not the castle. I think it is a gift shop or something.
Anyway it does look better on the right than centered.

To Clairedelune: Thanks Claire

Thanks for your kind words.

I think the halo really is due to the harpening process.
The skin tones may have been effected (reddened?)when I increased the contrast in PP.
The shirt was white,...

To German74: Horizon

I decided to crop the horizon out so that the meadow will feel as if it is endless.
Also the area beyound the meadow is bare and hardly has grass on it.
So it seemed like a good idea to crop it...

To rui_seabra: PP editting

I thought I might try something different and work with PP a bit more than usual. Im not usually fond of over-editting, but I thoguht I'd try it once to see how it works out.

To TheG1: Snow

In the original full size photo there's a lot of detail to the foam: it came out crispy sharp and you can actually count the number of droplets in the air.
Too bad we cant post a 3 Mb photo :-)

To ThomasL: sharpening

Now that you mention it there really are thin lines.
I'm not sure its the sharpening that caused it, though- maybe it was the shadow and highlight changes that I applied.

Thanks for the input,...

To Talia: No tripod

I didn't have the tripod with me so I rested the lens against a pillar.
The full-size photo is very sharp, so I guess the camera didn't move during the exposure. It is a bit noisy, though: I guess 6...

To triptych2003: Colors

Thanks for the compliment :-)
The colors in my photos are sometimes the result of a little PS editting...
For example in the photo of the western wall, I saturated the yellow channel around the...

Re: The perfect compact camera?

PS it is a 2003 camera, so you could probably find a second hand one at a very attractive price.

Re: The perfect compact camera?

Hi Ben,
I think that a relatively large sensor and better lens (smaller minimal f-stop) are what makes the camera less noisy and better for low light condition.
The Nikon Coolpix 5400 has a rather...

Re: Ws.

Hi Emiel,
I created the sky artificially, there wasn't enough detail to simply enhance it.
The beam was made by brightening the beam area and darkening the other areas.

The trick in this...

To blah: Window shadow

Hi Renan,
Thanks for the critique. I think the shadow helps the "shelter" idea - it shows how the sun is blocked out. You could be right though, Maybe I should try to take the photo again at another...

Re: Result looks good

Hi OJ,
I removed the ghosting by de-saturating certain channels in the ghosting area. The moonrays were softened by using Photoshop's luminosity healing brush. The mountain contour can be restored...
