Re: Furachan

mmmm, i think the word 'high' was mis-used. I think he was referring to the point where someone feels that they would like to take their photography in a different direction other to wat trekearth...

Re: Are we getting the most out of TE?

I think its also important not to just take photos that fit the trekearth 'guidelines'. For example, I'll often shoot photographs of friends, or get people to pose for shots, architecture shots,...

Re: Are we getting the most out of TE?

I think Trekearth is becoming a victim of its own success. I find it too vast these days and can't seem to keep up (also a bunch of my favourites have left in recent months which doesn't help as...

To livinitout: pics

i got a couple, but they're not really trekearth friendly. i.e they're off small bits of wall and parts of various architecture.

Re: If you had to decide........

Paul, are you sure you wouldn't prefer the 70-200 2.8 VR over the 80-200mm? I know I would!

To Furachan: Typo

Eh, you might wanna edit your text Francis, as you've gone and done the mother of all typos!!!!
I though i buggered up by writing the word sh*t instead of shot, but yours is the icing on the cake!!!...

Re: Lens Lust and other ramblings.

I reckon we got more chance of seeing an 'in body auto focus system' than seeing the M8 Mark II coming in at $3,500...

Re: Lens Lust and other ramblings.

I don't know about manual lenses after giving a few a whirl on Saturday. Think i might stick with the old auto focus and wait for the M9 to come out with an inbuilt auto focus system.

Re: Canon 40D, Canon 5D or wait for Nikon D300....

Everytime Francis give us his opinionm he forgets to mention Olympus and Sigma! Not that i would buy either!

Ken Rockwell likes his 16-35mm and 70-200 f4 IS combo. He's the MAN to listen to on...

Re: what is this camera like ?

For nighttime ovaltrack speedway photos, you are gonna need something with decent autofocus and low noise at higher iso's and something with a high frame rate. An SLR is probably what you'll need,...

Re: Lens Lust and other ramblings.

I ended up buying the 105mm micro in the end (but not the VR version). I'm not gonna count out buying a 17-55mm, but i'll see how it goes with this lens. I failed in my attempt to get a 50mm f1.2 AIS...

Re: Lens Lust and other ramblings.

those lenses sound fine Francis, but i wanted to limit the amount of glass that i have to lug around (especially for travelling). I've been enjoying the 12-24mm range and figured a 50mm and the 150mm...

Re: Burma: why sanctions....just don't work

Just a quick question Francis. Didn't Japan cancel some kind of aid that they were going to send to Myanmar? Maybe being an American in Japan is a worse thing? Have you checked to see if you can get...

Re: A lesson in seeing

It's kinda like that game 'Where's Wally?' You know, try and find the photo that most resembles the one that YOU took when you were there. 'Mine' is on the first page!

Re: Lens Lust and other ramblings.

Ooops, i meant to say that i have a Tokina 12-24mm. Its a good lens, but suffers from purple fringing a lot during night shots. Not a problem for black and white portriats though.

I'll tell you...

Yes i had a bit of a hangover. Something to do with the rugby not starting until 4am in Korea and being pretty drunk by kick off! I was giving England a cheer that night and was a bit dissapointed!
