To charlotte_iona: comments

Hi Charlotte,

thanks for the comments. Most of the reviews people post on TE are completely useless, so it's nice to get some constructive criticism once in a while. I don't remember very well,...

To freechechnya1: Redentor

Hi Adam,

I actually took it from Pao de Acucar. It was around 6pm as the sun started to set. I didn't realise how quickly the sun sets in Rio so another few minutes and it would be too late to...

Re: To jbasman: red frame

Norman - I agree with you. 99% of critiques on this site are empty pats on the back in pursuit of points.

Re: To jbasman: Photo Titles

Yeah - can't say I'm 100% sure, but a few months ago I looked into what was required to copyright an image. I was looking at international copyright and from what I remember there was a fee of $30 or...

Re: To jbasman: basilica

Kyle - unfortunately all my photos from Rome were made using film and are back in Sydney. I plan to scan the negatives at some point in the future. The only picture of Italy that I have posted is one...

To Manguy: Grand Canal

Hi Henri,

I've been thinking about deleting the moving boat in the middle of the canal but every time I can't help but think that it's cheating. I don't really like artificial photos.

Thanks...

To SylFondacci: Corsica

Sylvie - I really enjoyed my stay in Corsica. It's a beautiful island and I wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks for the nice words about the photo.

James.

To vapours: Brooklyn Bridge

Thanks for your comments Brendan. I just wanted to own up to the fact that I had the idea for the shot before I got there. I remembered seeing a shot like this somewhere before so when I was in New...

Re: To sardonic: Babi Corsica

I was born in a Russian family in Tbilisi. We emigrated to Australia in 1989. I was 11 at the time, so I still speak and read Russian fluently.

To sardonic: Babi Corsica

Thanks Nastya.

I do have another version showing more of the building and will post it soon.

Take care.

James.

P.S. I don't have trouble pronouncing Russian names. I speak Russian.

To MiguelP: Blade Runner etc...

Hi Miguel,

thanks for the comments. I actually took several shots with various exposures and in the end decided that this one looked most interesting. I had the Blade Runner in mind when I was...

To jimg: Opera House in sepia

Thanks for your comments Jim. This is the medium the photo was taken in so no colour version available. There's a gazzillion photos of the thing in colour out there anyway.

Take care,

James.

I can see the effect you were trying to achieve and I think you got it just right. I love the result.

To sohrab: Possible improvements to photo

Hi Sohrab,

thanks for the feedback. I agree with you that this could be done much better, but it wasn't so much the lack of thought process, as difficult conditions.

1. Picture was taken from...

To Didi: Foreground out of focus...

Hi Didi,

I actually wanted to make the foreground and far background in this image to be even more blurred out and focus only on the green bamboo stem to bring more attention to it. Thanks for the...

Where is the meaningful criticism?

I'm new to Trekearth, having given up on PhotoSig with its draconian rules for uploading images.

Having spent some time looking at the critiques people are posting here on TE I'm left somewhat...
