I don't check the forums very often, so I just saw this thread. Count me in. I have photos of: Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tamil Nadu, Singapore, Malaysia. They are old, but still relevant. Should I be scanning and posting them? Let me know.

Adam,
In my attempt to support this effort, I accidently added a photo from the Philippines and can't figure out how to remove it from the theme. Please ignore that photo or if you can remove it from the theme. many thanks Robin |

I have just returned from holiday to Thailand so therefore have only just seen this forum. Why the rush to get a calendar out now? We all know that within months the Tsunami will be history to many people and the donations will be only trickling through. The affected areas are getting a great deal of aid at the moment and I feel that to publish a calendar for 2006, to start distribution in perhaps October 2005, would be a reminder to people of the tragedy and that ongoing support is still needed.

I think this is a great idea that needs firm direction. There are many questions to answer:
- when would the calendar be published? - where would it be distributed? - could the costs be covered so that a reasonable amount of money could be raised for those affected by the tsunami? - where would the funds go? Two months after the tsunami, I was in Tamil Nadu doing an assessment of an NGO. They had a full program for village women and children - income generation programs, self-help groups, day cares, gender sensitisation courses, etc. - that was virtually wiped out by the events of Dec. 26. I helped to organise a fundraiser in January 2005 (called 'DirectAID') and we raised funds for this NGO. I would be willing to offer photos and help in seeing this project become a reality. This has some great potential and, in addition to raising funds for local programming, it could reintroduce the world to the situation in South Asia.
