Great tyro 2014-11-13 4:06

Hello Alastair,

It is indeed lovely to see these old signs though they are few and far between these days. And, like yourself, I love the accuracy of them and the evidence of the care and attention that went into constructing and erecting them.

Of course, huge numbers of these signs were destroyed (and many lovely old milestones defaced) during World War II in the vain hope that by so doing we might hinder the travel of any enemy who might land on our shores.

An interesting photograph and a perfect upload for TE!

Kind Regards,

John.

Default To tyro: Thanks John

Luckily there's still a few around, though this is one of the best I've seen.

Alastair
