Great macjake 2015-06-11 7:51

Hi Vincent
when I think of Australia, I certainly don't think about craggy looking mountains or such landscapes, so this is a real treat.

how long of a hike was this? I'm a hiker so i'm very interested.

this is something I would do if I make it to your area of the world, not the usual touristy thing to do, and that's why I like doing it :)
wonderful views up here, and I like that you added in the rocks on the bottom to give us an idea of the landscape.

thanks for this one

Default To macjake: Cradle Mountain

Hi Craig,

The hike to Cradle Mountain summit and back takes 6 to 8 hours, depending on how often you stop for photos and rests. If you make it to the summit you would have to spend some time there taking in the view and taking photos. It's one of the more popular walks in the area, so in good weather in summer there are quite a few people on the track. There are other scenic walking tracks around the area that get much less traffic.

The summit track is a side track off the Overland Walk, a multi-day walk through the Tasmanian wilderness, renowned for its fabulous views and miserable weather.
