Hello forum,
My name is Mark Snell and I am a Royal Marine. I am working on a project for the Royal Marines Band Service and have been tasked with finding a photograph for a forthcomming CD entitled 'Diversions'. We already have a cover but my Colonel would like to throw this open and, having seen the quality of the work on this site, has tasked me with seeing what you can come up with. The Disc has a Jazz theme in two of the tracks and one of the ideas is a foggy, possibly bridge, scene with streetlamps lighting the route possibly with a person on the bridge smoking or walking away. Another is someone leaving a Jazz club with a neon sign in the rain, mist or fog. At the moment we have a night shot of a city with car lights and the Colonel is taken by this shot http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/United_Kingdom/photo288157.htm as it is similar. If anyone wants to be imortalised on a CD by the Royal Marines, now is your chance. The image needs to be 'moody' and fairly dark with lights, a road showing light trails and possibly splits in the route. If anyone is interested in sumbitting anything to us it needs to be a minimum of 130mm x 130mm at 300dpi. You will have to grant us permission to reproduce and edit as required. You will be given credit for the photograph on the CD booklet and all monies generated will go back into service charities. We will, of course, send you a few copis of the CD as thanks and in payment. If you wish to contact me directly my email address is *sgts at royalmarinesbands.co.uk* I thank you in advance. Hello Mark.
If you want to use the image from the film Road to Perdition, it wouldn't be very orginal. I'm thinking of posters & films of New York, Frank Sinatra & Jimmy Dean. How about something more orginal. Like Marines in camo on the moors amoungst ferns and bracken lying down but instead of firearms, they are armed with instruments, it could be an early misty morning for effect. It certainly would be orginal... Good luck any way with the cover.... Regards Simone.. |

I saw a pic on which Furachan commented it could make a good cd cover:
http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/United_States/photo410677.htm I know it's not exactly what you were looking for but I found it very moody and suitable for a CD cover. Bye, Pris. |

Many thanks for the replies and offers so far. Some of them are stunning shots, as I have already noted in the overall quality of the shots on this site in general. We have a few in mind but are still searching. If anyone has any more to add to the pot we will glady look at them.
Most of the suggestions, despite being stunning, lack that 'something' or are a little off the brief I have been given. Once again many thanks and the search continues. |
