Everybody had the same question for me, assumed I was a guy! But the real irony is that I, too, assumed you were a guy until recently :(

is that perhaps because the general assumption is that boys make better photographers than girls?

You know, I think it's because the kind of photos we take are photojournalistic and if you look at the list of Magnum members, for example, there are about 5 women and fifty men! I really do not know why this is. (Speaking of, have you seen the photos of Maya Goded? Really incredible.)

Thanks for that recommendation...no, I had not looked at Maya Goded until you just mentioned.

I'm slowly working my way through the Magnum lot... I think that is perhaps some of the best work about prostitution I have seen yet...

I'm surprised that more women don't do it...in theory, we should do a good job, as we are linked with sensitivity and the emotional...isn't that what prompts good photography? I guess lots of girls like to take pictures of flowers and other fluffy things :)
