I want to express my condolences with all the people who have lost beloved ones. The disaster is beyond imagination. A lot of people on TE have traveled in that region, and may have lost friends. I know Henk has lost friends.
All these peolple in the countries involved in Asia and Africa have my deepest compassion. This is such a shock.
Here, in the Western world, we are either insured or we get money from the bank, but there will be numerous people who not only have lost beloved ones, but also lost their houses and income and .
Like Frida I had friends there, they came home safely today......

Default Big tragedy in Asia

I feel to repeat the same words as what Rinie wrote. Te is an international site an many of us have travelled to that part of the world, where I am myself going in February.

Thank you for your concern Cesar.
The tsunami had hit the western seaboard especially on the northern part of Peninsula Malaysia, in the state of Kedah, Penang, Perlis and Langkawi Island. Sabah, the island state where I live, is not affected.
It is nice to know being a TrekEarth, is a part of a big family.
Regards
Rabani

Default It is a mixed set of feelings now

on one side the reunion with the beloved ones which appeared safe and by any means communicated this to parents, friends...and on the other hand, the feeling of the tremendous tragedy and the increasing number of casualties.

The momentaneous joy that brings the reencounter with a beloved is inmediately followed by the monumental tragedy and the feelings attached which still has the force to make us feel overwhelmed and that made deep scars that will never dissapear with time.

I thank you for posting a thread here, although I know you are as we are, still shocked by this tragedy.

K.
