I absolutely love the daring framing and dramatic contre-jour lighting you've achieved in this image. On one level this is a simple and pleasant evening scene, as your title suggests; on another, it's a drama-filled photograph, where the shadows are more significant than the people. The choice of b/w is also just right. Good work.

Thank you very much Will for your thoughtful and interesting comment.
Always pleasant to receive a kind and spontaneous comment like yours, the best reward a photographer can have. For having spent a lot of time in this street full of happy scenes of life, I can't imagine a drama there but you're right, there are different ways to see this shot and to feel the atmosphere. Most people see a drama and I think that long shadows are indeed responsible of it. Glad to have given this double-vision, it makes my shot more interesting. Have a good sunday.
