Good morning Beverley,
I would have said this is typically English, with the grey stones and the Gothic windows.
Can’t think of any architecture like that in Fra,nce…
Anyway, Ripley seems to be a European feeling place, and I think the picture you show us proves how rich Europe is, from Lisbon to Bucharest, From Naples to Inverness or from Sevilla to Stockholm…
I still cannot believe Britain isn’t supposed to be part of that any longer.
This is a gloomy weekend…
Oh dear ! Let’s lift up our spirits ! Surely friendship will go on.
My kindest regards.
Marie-Louise.

Thank you MarieLouise.
Friendship cannot be voted out by politicians. I'm sure friendships are strong enough to ride the economic divisions! According to my sources, these houses were built in a style seen in the Alsace region, where the inheriting Lord Ingliby had been living. When he arrived at Ripley, he demolished the existing houses and built the new ones in the French style. There is no record of the opinions of the householders! The castle and the pub were not included in this revamp. Have a good day, Bev ![]() |

Thanks for your reply Beverley.
I suppose I don't much about the history of architecture in Alsace. Interesting to learn about it. Have a good week. Marie-Louise. |
