Hello Jorge,
Yes, we had these in Turkey, too. They are called "Trabzon hurması" (Trabzon date). Why they are called dates I don't know. You need to wait till it's translucent to eat it.

here in my town we can harvest these fruits when they are not mature (golden) and put alcohol in the top and after three days you can eat it easily, it is sweet and hard as an apple. take care jorge
