Is any town in Japan without festival??? Anyway, it is not Kurashiki. There are three at least festivals there:
Heartland Kurashiki (May 2 - 4/ at Kurashiki Central Street and to the Bikan Historical Quarter) In this annual event held around Golden Week (May), river boats travel elegantly along the Kurashiki-gawa River while on the street, the Kan Kan Bazaar selling hand made jewelry and antique goods is held. Suinkyo dancing, in which people dance wearing masks of old men and old women, is another attraction. Kurashiki Tenryo Summer Festival (Sat & Sun at the end of July/ at Kurashiki Station main street and in the Bikan Historical Quarter) A Kurashiki beauty contest, flee market, Tenryo-daiko (drum performance), and outdoor concert are the attractions carried on along Daikan-bayashi (folk tune) background music. The most popular among those is Ade-mikoshi, in which a portable shrine is carried only by women. Those charming and energetic women, wrapping themselves with bleached cotton cloth, parade with high spirited shouts through the town. Beauty contest, energetic women - something you like. Kurashiki Music Festival (mid March - end of March/ at Kurashiki City Hall and in the Bikan Historical Quarter) This annual music festival is held for about 10 days. , |
