Great emka 2021-01-27 17:46

Hello Paul, I am amazed to see how Vang Vieng has changed. An interesting note about the bad reputation. For me, the river didn't seem to be so dangerous but maybe with the combination with drinks and drugs it became so. What a pity I have so few pictures to compare. I have video but it is not digitalized. Very strange this restaurant on the water. Is it temporary for just the New Year celebration. or stable? Even more strange is this restaurant on the other side of the river. Excellent presentation of the weird place.

Default To emka: Changes

Thank you Malgo,

No, the restaurant wasn't temporary but perhaps more tables and chairs were put for the celebrations of New Years Eve and New Years Day ...

Vang Vieng has changed a lot. I think many places in Laos have changed a lot in recent years.
Still, the country (not Vang Vieng or Luang Prabang) was much more authentic than any of the other countries I visited on that journey.
Read the comment of Ronny at this picture. He has been in Vang Vieng in 2005 and in 2018.

Best regards,
Paul
