Great tyro 2020-05-31 2:07

Hello Gert,

Two wonderful photographs from your time in Bobo almost forty years ago, both of which perfectly capture the joy of youth.

Your workshop photo of eleven boys who could easily have formed a soccer team of their own is great fun - but your main photo just has to be my favourite with the solo player, dressed entirely in brilliant red and masterfully dribbling a blue football, perfectly placed in the frame and most definitely the "star of the show"!

I see the tower (or minaret) of the mosque behind the big tree: I also see the massive pointed "posts" with spikes sticking out of them - do they mark the boundaries of the mosque or are they part of the walls?

If only on account of this little fellow in red, this also has to go into my "favourites"! :)

Kind Regards,

Default To tyro: part of the wall

Thank you again, John,
The wooden spikes are parts of the wall. I'm not well informed about the building techniques of adobe houses, but I suppose they are used to reinforce the walls.
