Hello Beverley,
We catch a glimpse of the beautiful countryside in the upper right corner. In this way we can imagine the view the residents have in their backyard.
Most houses have a nice little porch. Is that because otherwise you would immediately enter the living room? Or does it serve as a cold barrier in the house?

In answer to your question, those porches are very useful, both as a means of keeping the interior warm and a place to keep boots and plants. Have a good w/e, Bev 😊
