Hello Malgo,
In fact, there are at least 5 or 6 "i", including "ei" and "oi". For instance, the village Oia on Santorini is "Ia" (or "Iia"). I once heard a girl calling for her boyfriend: Kostadino! Kostadino! (Kostantino).
I had a good host on Antiparos ("Adiparos") who corrected me when I pronounced words wrongly. I also had to learn the pronunciations to be able to transliterate names correctly for my freelance job.
These photos are all nice. It looks like a very normal small town with charming narrow streets full of restaurants. I haven't eaten any ice cream for many years, but of course I drink beer and retsina. That's one experience you will never have. ;-)
Kind regards,
Gert

Yes, I know about two other i but I forgot what was the combination. Other are tau sigma - ch, tau dzeta -j and two gammas - g. (gamma is GH). I found it all in Greek for beginners in YT. And I didn't realize that there is small o (omikron) and big O (O mega), It was a surprise for me.
