Great CliffW 2007-03-24 13:45

This is one of the more enlightening photos I've seen of Istanbul, which I have not yet visited. But I do enjoy seeing more than the well-known monuments, as I feel I come to know a place better by seeing the everyday places.

I like the shot - particularly because by leaving out the sky, you create a closed in feeling, which communicates the quiet of this side street. The parts you did leave, with the height of buildings, versus the small size of the boys clearly communicates the scale. And with this being a street that comes to an end, the scene is properly "closed". It has a beginning and an end and so completes the scene.

I was amazed to read your critique. The way you describe the "closedness" of the place was really enjoying.
