Photographer's Note
On my first day in Ketou, the King of the city received me for a welcoming visit. His ministers were sitting to his left, listening intently to what His Masjety had to say.
Monarchies are still common through Benin. They don't have any formal political power (at least in the western sense of politics), but they are still very important in the Beninese culture.
Generally the Kingdoms are not very big; perhaps they are equivalent in size to a medieval European city state.
