Photographer's Note
Here's my first photo from last month's travel to the Middle East.
It's the Red Sea and in fact, you can see three countries in this shot. Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Drive just a few kilometers north and you will be in Israel.
The castle seen in this picture is called Saladin's Fort and covers most of Pharao's Island. Despite what many people think, the coast of Sinai is still safe to visit. The police control several checkpoints and they make sure no foreigners drive the northern highway through Sinai as it wouldn't be safe. The coast is both safe and worth a visit. The landscape really surprised me and the Bedouins are extremely warm and welcoming.

Hi Fredrik
Really good viewpoint to include the castle and the mountains in the distance. Great light colours and the contrast between light and shadow makes the old walls look 3D.
Thanks for your note too. There are many places I have been too that have, undeservedly, an opinion of being "unsafe", e.g. Pakistan or Iraqi Kurdistan.
Best wishes
Kasia
