Photographer's Note
The plateau on the top of these rocky hills is called the Amba. The Amba from where this view can be seen houses a 6th Century Ethiopian Orthodox monastery called Debra Damo. It is accessible only by climbing a 15m sheer rock cliff. The main church is built with many features from the pre-christian Axumite style, although incorporating carved wood components in similar style to Romanesque churches in the middle east.

Hello Stephen
An excellent downward pov on the green roofed church from this lofty rocky crag. Good sharpness and well composed using the rule of thirds. Tfs!

Hello Steve,
This is a spectacular view of the rugged scenery and you composed the photo nicely. The persons sitting on the large rock fill the right side well and beyond them the small green church is a fine eye-catcher. The steep view down the valley is breathtaking.

Gert

Hi Stephen
I don't understand why they'd build anything up here, and the only way up is up a sheer rock cliff? Sounds like a terrible experience to bring up all the materials hahaha...but impressive too, must have been very labour intensive. Impressive view too, lovely color tones and a never ending skyline. Is that person on a cell phone? cheers
