Photographer's Note

One of the abiding impressions of Amboseli National Park in Kenya was the elephants. I have seen plenty of wild elephants in Namibia but not in the numbers we saw in Kenya. This shot was taken in the early morning when the elephants moved en masse to the boggy wetland area of the park. Here they could graze and drink to their hearts’ content as this area was lush and green. Here you see the elephants hell bent on reaching their destination, kicking up dust as they crossed the road in front of us. I asked our driver not to park with the sun behind us as I specifically wanted to photograph the elephants with the back-lit dust.
