Photographer's Note
Here is another shot taken on a visit to the Walvis Bay salt pans.
Salt was in use long before recorded history. Since the dawn of time, animals have instinctively forged trails to natural salt sources to satisfy their need for salt. Ancient man the hunter obtained his salt from eating animal meat. As he turned to agriculture and his diet changed, he found that salt (maybe as sea water) gave his vegetables the same salty flavour he was accustomed to with meat.
Over many millennia, he learned how salt helped to preserve food, cure hides and heal wounds. Nomadic bands would have carried salt with them and traded it with other bands for different goods.

Hello Rosemary,
I love your note. I didn't realise that ancient man obtained his salt from eating animal meat. I did know that salt was always an exceedingly prized commodity and, in fact, our word "salary" comes from the Latin word "salarium" which was the sum of money given to Roman soldiers to buy their salt. And, of course, we are nowadays told that we all eat too much salt and must make efforts to reduce our intake of the stuff! We can't win.
But this is a fine photograph which would make a great illustration in a book or article about salt and its production. The picture is striking, the huge vehicle placed perfectly in the frame and strong diagonals leading the eye well into the picture. Good strong colours and contrasts too.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

The angle is nice, making the truck look like moving...
The colours are beautiful, the salt pan's pink is interesting.
The clouds give a balance to the shot.
A tiny nit-picking would be the brigt hill of salt, which may be burnt a little.
TFS dear Rosemary.
With friendship,
Erdem

Hi my dear Rosemary
So wonderful bright colorful shot indeed.
A nice presentation by so impresive wide focus framework / composition and clearly sharp and deep focus via F.22 as usual.
Very fresh color is attractive too.
Thanks for your sharing finest work and have a good day!
PS. Nucler accident is still critical but we are already accustomed to the situation, this is another dabgerous situation.
Best regards,

Hi Rosemary,
Nice capture with good pov and perfect light and colors.
I like here the contrast between the "hardness" of the truck and the "smooth" landscape.
Nice notes as well.
TFS and best regards

Hello RoseMary! The angle is nice,The colours are beautiful, the salt is interesting.I like the clarity and the sharpness of the scene,as the foliage on the left to decorate the whole scene. The clouds give a balance but the color dynamics and final sense of movement impressed I liked the note

Hi Rosemary!
I just returned from a road trip thru Botswana little of Zambia and Namibia. Namibia was absolutely my favorite. Due to lack of time we missed Walvis Bay but we had two nights in Swakopmund.
I like how you putted the truck to the left and the pan to the right, good balance. Fine nice colors as well!
Regards Stefan
