Lutte Traditionnelle (fr. for Traditional Wrestling) is the name used to describe related styles of west african folk wrestling in Niger.
Two fighters compete in a circular ring, in more formal events bound by sand bags. Each fighter attempts to eject the other from the ring, though they can win by knocking the other off their feet or onto all fours.
Eighty traditional wrestling heavyweights slugged it out in Niger Republic’s 31st Annual Wrestling Competition which took place in the country’s former capital of Zinder.
The eighty finalists were drawn from the 8 states that make up Niger Republic and they contested in the highly competitive event for a period of ten days, during which the overall winner emerged from Agadez region.
The finalists were selected for the national round up after a hot contest at state level and each state was being represented by ten heavyweights.
This year’s competition is the 31st in the series of the yearly event since it was first introduced in 1975 in central-west state of Tahoua.

e pure con uno scatto non banale da un luogo poco battuto.

non si capisce tra i due chi sia hulk hogan e chi the ultimate warrior (beh...io il wrestling lo guardavo negli anni '80) però credo che il pubblica si diverta lo stesso anche con idoli locali...

Quelle joie de te revoir. J'étais inquiète pour toi particulièrement avec la situation politique de ces dernières semaines. Peut-être es tu rentré en Italie pour quelques temps?

Tu non sai che piacere ho avuto nel ricevere il tuo commento e nell'avere la possibilità di commentare un bravo fotografo come te ma soprattutto un amico. Come stai? Come te la passi laggiu? Devo proprio dirti che ci sei mancato per tutto questo tempo, anche se non ho mai perso la speranza di risentirti. Spero solo che, prima o poi, ci sia veramente la possibilità di conoscerti di persona. Per il momento mi godo questa bellissima immagine, fatta con la tua consueta bravura, testimonianza di un mondo tanto lontano, ma non meno prezioso ed affascinante.

Ciao Alberto, son capitato quasi per caso nella tua galleria, che ormai di foto nuovenon ci contavo più ed invece... sorpresa...., bella foto d'azione, meglio questo di wrestling di quello gonfiato e fasullo, nota interessante come al solito, ma ora non ci fare aspettare 14 mesi per la prossima, ciao Silvio
