From my not so old archive. I have many pictures from the villages of Senegal and no time to show them. Here three at once.
In the centre of the village near the Dindefelo waterfalls, there is a big tree. Maybe because there is a shadow under it, here concentrates the life of the village. The women are selling their products, the boys play table football and the men are playing the kind of draughts. And they can live without looking at mobiles. Aren't they happy?

Hello Malgo,
Three colourful and lively photos from your recent trip to West Africa showing village daily life. All well realised with good colours and sharpness.

Regarding my posting of Plaza Mayor, it was in fact warm enough to sit out on a café terrace around midday and enjoy a glass of chilled white wine. Very pleasant.

A beautiful collage showing the local life of the villagers of Senegal. The ambiance is not so very different from the remote villages of India except the dresses of the ladies. Fine colours and sharpness.

Une chose que l'on remarque tout de suite c'est que les dames travaillent dans ce village et que les hommes s'amusent. Quand pour certains , c'est moins drôle que pour d'autres.

Three very nice photos taken at the same place, just moving your camera a little bit. They all have a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere that I fondly remember from my own journeys. A few times I was in trouble in Africa and hated everything, but much more often I had nice experiences among friendly and pleasant people whom I will remember until the day I die.

Ciao Malgo. As a title I would have chosen "no work, no stress". Different categories of people with one thing in common, doing nothing. And I often wonder if they or us are better. Three excellent impressions from these villages and their inhabitants, the ladies underneath the tree and with their products, they boys around the football table and the men with their game. Good and well-saturated colours. I like your note and most of all the last sentence about the absence of mobile phones, I wish that could happen in our society more often as well.

Hello Malgo, as you observed the large tree seems to be the meeting place of all the different village people. The boys and the men appear to be happy, but I am unsure of how the women are feeling, they don’t look quite as happy.

Hi dear Malgo,

To answer your question first - yes, of course they are happy! As human beings we really are blessed by being wonderful animals, perfectly adapted to cope with almost any of Earth's environments and, over thousands of years, we have become a very gregarious species, communicating with each other in ways far better than any other creatures can, through speech, touch and facial expression as well as by way of rich languages, art, and some other remarkable things like humour, art and love.

But then some fool invented a mobile phone and this rich society, which had existed for thousands of years, suddenly disappeared down a black hole in a flash. No longer do we need to trouble ourselves by talking to one another: we don't need to waste time saying "please" or "thank you" - in fact, we don't need to even acknowledge another person's existence - we just stare into an electronic screen where we can apparently satisfy all our physical and emotional needs.

Anyway, Malgo, enough of my rants! This is indeed a lovely little trio of photographs, very well seen and very well taken and these people do indeed look quite happy too. But perhaps with just one exception - in your top picture, the lady on the right looks the least happy of all - but what is that in her right hand? Could that be a mobile? God forbid!

Malgorzata, that very well realized collage illustrates the simple daily life in a village in Senegal. The huge tree is used as a rallying point as it provides shade against the hard tropical sun. The women talk in a corner separately from the men who are playing draughts i think. The young boys look excited to play table football table. Bright colors, sharp composition
