... and I was fortunate to be able to witness and to admire your encounter through your picture... that could have been taken during the beginning of jazz, and what amazes me, is that it was not solong ago. WELL DONE and THX for sharing !!!

What a delightful jazz picture, Brendan. It indeed has a very old fashioned feel. I like the motion blur on the musician on the left (what was he playing? it seems to be a heavy instrument) and the sophisticated swing feel of the one the right. The shallow DOF is well chosen. Well seen & well done!

Great photo mate. If I was to be critical though I would say that I'd have preferred the musician on the left in focus. The composition and contrast of shades works really well, especially with the background out of focus, but to me the lack of focus on the musician to the left is distracting. Cool jazz moment though.

Beautiful picture Brendan. I can understand what you said about what you can achieve when taking close up pictures of human subjects. This picture brings in an air of tranquility - no doubt accentuated by the black-and-white medium.
