Photographer's Note
Here is Malolotja Nature Reserve. The Lonely Planet refers to it as one of "Swaziland's most enchanting and unspoilt wilderness areas" and I would have to agree. We were the only paying customers to visit the park that day and my husband said the guest register showed only one visitor the day before. We did see some locals in one of the creek bottoms harvesting what looked like reeds. Despite how idyllic it was, I couldn't help but worry that the park would run out of money at that rate.
The park offers great hiking and, if you're into four wheel driving, this is the place for you. We drove approximately an hour with our truck crawling up and down hair pin turns, and eroded dirt trails to see this view (that is NOT how we usually travel, but with a two year old in the back we had to make adjustments). When we got here the mountain just fell away into this beautiful vista. It felt like we'd reached the end of Swaziland. I think some of those mountains are actually South African. I also suppose that it is partially these mountains that allowed Swazi's to keep their country independent.
This picture was sharpened and I adjusted for color because this was taken in the afternoon when the sun was terrible for photography.

This is a very nice photo from one of the best national parks in Swaziland. You have a nice view and beautiful colors of a typical view in Majolotja National park. I have done some hiking in this national park which as you said receives very few tourists. I got the permit the day before to walk in one of the valleys the next day. In the morning I walked over the rim and down in the next valley. After a couple of hours walking I was surprised by wood fire / grass fire I had to run for my life up onto a big rock. After some minutes waiting the fire passed by and I could continue down the valley to find out there the fire had started. I walked back to the ranger to report the fire in the national park. I said you have a very big fire in the next valley think it has started at camping area number five? The ranger said that's correct we did start be fire by purpose but we had forgotten that you had a permit to walk in that area! Almost no one is walking in this national park they happened to have one tourist there and forgot him. They purposely burn down certain areas in the national park each year.

Ciao Kate,
A presto, Nino.
