Photographer's Note

HDR shot from out of a hot air balloon in Kapadokya, Turkey.
I was in Goreme, Cappadocia for a few days. The landscape is absolutely amazing there, all weird shapes. I waited until the last day of my stay to finally being able to join on a hot air balloon trip. The days before my trip were too windy. I cannot imagine a better landscape for a first balloon trip.

The rocks of Cappadocia near Göreme eroded into hundreds of spectacular pillars and minaret-like forms. The volcanic deposits are soft rocks that the people of the villages at the heart of the Cappadocia Region carved out to form houses, churches and monasteries. Göreme became a monastic center between 300—1200 AD.
