Il y a quelques temps j'avais beaucoup aimé cette image, que j'ai mise dans mes favorites.

En voyant ce post, je m'étais promis, si je retournais à NYC, de prendre le ferry de Staten Island pour essayer de réaliser une image du célèbre bateau orange devant les buildings de downtown Manhattan.

Voici donc une des images que j'ai ramené de la traversée, prise dans la lumière de fin de journée.

Bien sur, ce post est dédié à Stéphane, dont les images, et pas seulement New-Yorkaises, sont toujours un plaisir pour l'oeil.

Sometimes ago, I liked a lot this image, which I put into my favorites list.

Seeing this post, I promised myself, when I come back to NYC, to take Staten Island ferry and try to shoot the famous orange boat in front of downtown Manhattan buildings.

So here is a picture I brought back from that trip. I took it with evening light.

Of course I dedicate this post to Stephane, whose images, not only from New-York City, are always so attractive.

NY est vraiment une ville photogénique, ta photo en est la preuve surtout avec ce type de lumière. Par contre je me demande si un cadrage vertical ne lui donnerait pas plus de "pêche".

this is very impressive, JB, love the deep colours and rich warm light. the tight framing emphasised by long focal length works well to convey the feeling of NYC, especially Manhattan - tightly and densly populated. and now I know what kind of photo I will have to try and get, thanks for the idea :)

Salut, JB,
la lumière du soir avec ses tons dorés si chauds illumine les édifices du Financial District et Battery Park d'une façon réellement magnifique.
Et le Ferry-boat orange de Staten Island est un complément absolument nécessaire dans cette scène.
Bien réalisée, et bien dédiée à un autre photographe avec un très bon oeil.
Je me promets aussi prendre une photo comme la tienne quand je vais à nouveau en NY.
Excellente photo.

Bonsoir JB,

Quelle magnifique lumière, "vieille" et dorée.. vieille par l'aspect des bâtiments sur cette lumière, très beaux. J'aime aussi la composition fermée, qui permet de voir beacoup de détails, et que donne une trés bonne toile au fond pour le bâteau. Celui ci donne mouvement et direction à la photographie. Bravo!

but I must say, you are a good photographer and when it is not good I wil be honest to say it. But it is a good low light shot here,marvelous parts of shadow, good composition, fine photojob my friend.

C'est une image de grande classe. La ville est là oppressante et écrasante. L'impression est forte. Le bateau est un plus qui dynamise le spectacle. De belles couleurs, un bon cadrage. Bravo.

Le cadrage est élégant. L'eau remuée par les hélices du bateau y amène du mouvement. Sur mon portable, elle semble un peu sombre, par contre. C'est voulu?

An amazing cityscape, the depiction of the ferry shining in the evening light and the white waves, is indeed exquisite. I really like also this amber tonality. Superb!

I always love the light in your images, but this time you have excelled yourself. Looking at the strange colour of the sky I'm guessing that this is the strange light that only happens once every now and then. Kind of strong low light coupled with fog. The result is this wonderful graphic image of all the buildings in gorgeous tones and contrasts. The ferry adds an wonderful extra dimension to the scene. Excellent!

Je n'avais pas vu celle-ci ! Un cadrage au top et des couleurs qui, comme à ton habitude, donne une chaleur particulière à cette très belle image. J'aime beaucoup les anciens batiments de l'arrière plan qui montre une ville de New-York comme si elle sortait du passé.
Excellent.

Hi JB. Great photo. For 300mm and 1/125 sec SS you have excellent sharpness and detail! Wonderful warm colours also. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful city and the warm tones add a nice accent to the view. The image is well composed with an excellent croping and saturation of elements. Details are sharp and enhance the pleasant atmosphere of this metropolis. Thanks JB.

Un grand grand merci pour cette dédidace, qui me touche...
Côté compo, c'est très intéressant de voir la différence de traitement et de PP (en l'occurrence), ainsi que l'ambiance que tu atteins ainsi. Le jaune/L'or saturé fonctionne incroyablement bien ici.

Hello JB,
this is undoubtebly a great shot and there is something of a movie touch in it which attracts me a lot.
Don't know if it's the light glowing out of the buildings and boat surface or the overall mix of the sky scrappers and ferry at the bay which reminds of a movie but I do get that feeling from this photo.

Tu as raison, cette ballade jusque a Staten pour 50 cts ( ca a du augmenter un peu) est un MUST a ne pas rater. J ai un peu les memes photos en argentique ... avec les twins... Gé
