Santiago de Compostela, located in the northwest of Spain and capital of the autonomous community of Galicia, is a city that falls in love at first sight with its monumental Cathedral and the network of alleys in the old town, declared a World Heritage Site.
It is also one of the three main pilgrimage centers of Christianity, along with Jerusalem and Rome, so you will enjoy a good atmosphere for pilgrims and students as it has a prestigious university that is more than 500 years old.
The Plaza de Obradoiro is the heart of the city, in it is the impressive Cathedral that occupies one of the lengths of the square; which also has several of the most beautiful monuments to see in Santiago, such as the Pazo de Raxoi, current seat of the town hall, the Pazo de Xelmirez, the former episcopal palace of the cathedral, and the Colexio de San Xerome, the former college of the city and of course another favorite building in this square is the Hospital of the Catholic Monarchs, built in 1501 by order of the Catholic Monarchs to give shelter to pilgrims who ended up exhausted and sometimes sick on the Camino de Santiago. Today this Plateresque-style building is known as the Parador de Santiago.
The Old Quarter, located around the Plaza de Obradoiro and declared a World Heritage Site, is the oldest and most essential neighborhood to visit in Santiago de Compostela.
Among the most beautiful corners are the Cervantes, Platerías and Quintana squares, the stately homes of Balconada, Deán and La Parra, as well as its most emblematic streets such as Rúa do Franco, Rúa Raíña, Rúa do Vilar and Rúa Nova, all of them surrounded by beautiful old buildings and in which it is worth investing time.

Hello Luis,
Both photos today are well composed and attractive, but you made the right choice for main post. It's well framed, the tower is placed slightly to the side, the street makes an elegant slight curve and there are a few persons seen, just enough to make the view lively. The light and colours were very nicely handled.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hell Luis,
Such a lovely view down this quiet narrow pedestrian street. That small tower in the middle is really charming, but also the façades add lots of fine details. I like the contrast between shadows and sunlight a lot as well.

luis

Hola Luis,
I have seen many programmes about the pilgrimage route and this photograph does not disappoint what the pilgrims will find when they eventually reach their goal.
The narrow street, with tall, characterful buildings, is given that special sense of religion by the well placed bell tower, rising above everything else!
You have coped well with the contrasting lighting so that we still have access to all the details.
Though your w/s is interesting, this serves better as a main post, having a greater sense of atmosphere.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hola Luis,
Yes it is quite famous for its pilgrimages indeed.
This is a very charming spot here with the little tower adding so much beauty and character to the scene. You have a great eye in finding such attractive places wherever you go.
Very well thought through composition, I am looking forward to learning more about this famous destination,
M
