Photographer's Note
Udaipur has a wondeful market selling brightly coloured fruit, vegetables, spices and many other things. I think the nearest pan contains tumeric (Curcuma)which is obtained from the rhizomes of a plant growing in South East Asia. Tumeric is added to many curry and other dishes. Tumeric and its active ingredient, curcumin, is being seriously investigated for its medicinal properties. For a long time it has been used in folk medicine.

Hello Ann - Lovely shot! Very good colour on the spices which lead the eye to the hustle and bustle of the market behind. Great use of DOF. Best wishes Rosemary

Hello Ann,
I love the composition, juxtaposing the mounds of spice with their brilliant colors, and the women's saris with their brilliant colors. By keeping the aperture at a mere f/4.5, you've also produced a blur in the background — the marketplace becomes a colorful backdrop to the precision of the mounds of variegated spices.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Ann
you should like the color!
Sharp image on the spice jars, and you get the blurred sarees of the market at the back, the blue one contrasting with the warm hues of the shot.
Kind regards

Hello Ann
Absolutely wonderful colours. I like the composition with the bowls of spices in sharp focus with the backdrop of the colourful crowd slightly out of focus.
I don't usually comment on photos that were taken a couple of years ago as personally I like to be topical but I could not let this picture pass.
Best wishes

Hi Ann,
A very fine assembly of colours, not onky from the different spices but also from the women. Maybe some of these powders also could be used as dyestuffs for textiles? Certainly a good curry dish can stain a white shirt, if you´re not careful;)
Kind regards

A mixture of colour, spice, lively dresses and human element. That's truly India. :-)
I liked the DOF, which enables us to concentrate on the foregound without completely sacrificing the details of the lively bazaar. A tiny bigger crop could be suggested.
Congrats...

Hello Ann,
a great work with the depth of field, the spices in foreground are focused well, while the blurry background gives a good 3D sensation.
The vivid colors of the spices and of the dresses of the people provide a great chromatic power for your composition.
It is a beautiful photo.
Best regards,

Hi Ann
Street markets are ideal places to really capture the atmosphere of an urban life as depicted here. They are always colourful and full of interesting characters and sometimes even unusual items for sale. The shallow dof helps to focus attention onto the stuff greatly, and the composition is well thought out, and the contrasting red gives the image a very vibrant and lively atmosphere. Excellent exposure, contrast and sharpness. Great capture, Well done. TFS

Hola Ann :
Beautiful composition with a very good technical work.
You obtain the just faded away into the later plane
so that it does not bother to the first plane of
the spices, that we see them in full splendour,
but simultaneously the vague one allows us
to imagine well the place where we are.
The colors and contrast are very well obtained.
Congratulations for in excellent work.
Un abrazo y feliz día...

Ann
I watch TV programs in food preparation.
Today we have repeated at Christmas ... ... .. or so the menu last year.
This picture always makes me think of foods with different flavors and colors.
Perhaps a speech debunking.
The picture is a riot of colors and flavors.

Hi Ann,
Colourful Inida for sure with the bright spices and the bright colours of the saried ladies. I like your use of dof to focus on the spices, but the colurs in the background still come through too. A nice image taking me back to India.
Regards
Wanda
