Red shed, a photo from Uppland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

This is yet another photo taken in the same former fishing village at the Baltic coast in the province of Uppland. This one is taken some hundred meters from my previous post. Nowadays there almost only summer houses/cottages here, but in the 1940 there were more than 30 fishing teams here. There were fishing Baltic herring. Sometimes the caught 2 tonnes of herring a night and sometimes I was a couple of 100 kilos. The fish were transported to the cities of Gävle, Uppsala and Stockholm.

Very nice of the Swedes to paint their cottages in such a vivid red, so much contrasting with the
surrounding nature.
A well balance picture and a nice thought at summertime while we're still in a cold winter.

it is a really nice red house picture again, with great warmth glowing from the picture, it seems summer in Sweden is beautiful, I am so hopelessly waiting for spring, I cannot imagine you live somewhere where you have to wait even longer.

A very attractive picture! This is really what the Swedish summer looks like. A fine reminder of times to come. A very fine composition with the long line of sharp angled roofs and one red house close to the viewer. Beautiful colours!

This photo show clearly how different compositions but equally valid and fine can be taken from one same scene. I like the tranquillity of this place and the harmony of this simple architecure which with its fine colour fits well in this environment. The sight of the calm sea is very soothing and the wonderful summer light warms our heart in the middle of this cold winter. A well thought composition which seems prompted by sincere love for this nice place.

Once again a picture with superb sharpness, great colours and some very typical Swedish scenery. I can almost imagine the smell of sea and fish in the golden days of this place. And how I would prefer this kind of weather right now.

I like a lot this one , too . These little houses are so lovely . The shady part of the facades in the left provide a superb effect . The composition is excellent . may be it could be yet more effective in a loner format (a little les sky and grass) .

Hi Ulf!
I believe you are still enjoying snowy weather up there! But I guess that from this picture and the previous one, you are longing for Christmas!
Beautiful scenery, typically Swedish! Everything is so calm and relaxing, anybody would love to lounge around and take it easy in this beautiful place!
You talk about a former fishing village on the Baltic coast! So it's closed now! I was sorry to hear about the terrible state the Baltic sea is in , pollutionwise!
Let's hope something can be done about it in the future, but it will certainly take a long tgime!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful picture anyway!

This is a really appealing photograph - nothing fancy, just good composition working with a few elements. I like the more naturalistic approach to the light and colours - no need to go heavy with the filters or with post-production. A nice diagonal line of cabins on the left of the shot and a single cabin providing the apex to the triangle.
