Dedicated to the Ranger who gave us this pleasure of this viewpoint.

After a short hike in Marine Headland Recreation, we just wanted to go to the overlook at the lighthouse from a distant, since they close the area at 4:00 before sunset. We were very lucky there was a group of people with reservation for the evening tour that night. The very kind ranger invited us to come along, so we get to have such a wonderful close up view of the lighthouse at sunset, as well as some very interest information about the lighthouse.

As I said on my previous post overlook to the Golden Gate Bridge, you can continues on the road to Marine Headland, you will see Point Bonita Lighthouse which I find very picturesque at any time of day.

hello Way,
I like a lot the gradient sky, change from pink to blue always seems crystal clear and sparkling, don't know how else to describe it. calm, tranquil moment, time stops, no rush, no fiery drama in the sky, just calm. reminds of "Melancholic waltz" by a Latvian composer Emils Darzins. excellent work, my compliments.

Excellent colours, mood and composition, slight tilt to the left but not bothering, well handled exposures and sharpness. The pastel like colours I like very much in this scene.

Despite the small tilt on the horizon this is a very ncie double shot from those two structures.
No need to say that the gradient in the sky looks wonderful, just as the light from the lighthouse...

Hi,
the sky really looks amazing in this shot and the scene at the bottom creates a lovely outline. The horizon is in a good spot and I think you've included just the right amount of sky. Enough to appreciate its colors while the scene at the bottom still has an ample amount of "breathing room".

Hi, Way -

Not many people make it out to Point Bonita! I have a friend who is a docent there, and we got a special tour once. That footbridge is a bit unnerving, isn't it?

Great shot, perfect mood, and the light in the lighthouse is just bright enough to make the scene work.

Just divine...carefully composed, levels are excellent. You're a lucky dude Way! It is an isolate area and I see sign no trespassing somewhere... I had the chance driving near this point late afternoon as well but my girlfriend kinda felt 'errie' about the surrounding and uncomfortable alone with me ;)

You were lucky this day, and we are lucky now you propose this shot. The exposure was good to offer the colors of the sunset with the spotlight of the lighthouse with details on the front of it.
Perhaps the bottom of the photo is a bit too dark. I would have propose a small cropping to remove just a part of it to get a final composition a little more balanced.

HI Way, this is a really great photo. (Not being a morning person, an afternoon shot definitely suits you better :) The tones are very good and you've still managed to keep the detail on the lighthouse and bridge rather than having it completely in sillhouette. Very subtle light. I like the detail still visible in the front wall of the lighthouse. Nice.

The soft palette of pastels looks delightful; the mood is very romantic and the lighthouse compliments the scene very well. I do think the bottom is a little dark tough. I should consider visiting San Francisco area one day. I only visited San Diego when I went to CA.

The Marine Headlands are on my August 2009 agenda, so I really appreciate whatever photographic info I can gather on the surroundings, concerning different POVs, etc... Now, what I see here qualifies as a wonderful shot. Terrific light management and one of the best dusks I've seen in a long time. Le coucher de soleil est magnifique, des couleurs qui ressemblent unpeu à celles de ma dernière photo.
Le dégradé coloré est vraiment parfait, bien exposé et les silhouettes se détachent très nettement.

Both element are superb, we see the lighthouse as silhouette against the pink background.
Also the bridge together with fog gives a wonderful composition.

This stunner popped up in your randoms! I found such views always interesting with the colours of the sky, the silhouette, the interaction with artificial light...but somehow I have so far been unable to capture the essence of this ethireal beauty & hence I can admire this picture more! Especially like the light in the lighthouse...that's a different part...silhouette, colour in the sky is part & parcel for being attractive features in such shots!
