Staircase is Slippery When Orange, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

I took this photo today in Langley BC, a city just outside of Vancouver.
The inspiration of this scene came from our fellow TE member Phil, better know as Dyerco.

Phil has posted a couple of photos from this area, called Sendell Gardens, so i thought i would go down and take a look.

I think thats what makes TE so great, getting to know other members and being inspired from them. I went to the gardens with another fellow TE member westcoastgirl1.

This is simply a small concrete staircase, maybe about 15 steps, and they were completely covered in leaves.
The addition of moss, was simply a bonus.

I've become quite a fan of your photos. This is superb. I love the contrasting lines on the daigonals. Particularly how the steps have those brilliant colored leaves with the stripes of dark green moss. Marvelous color, outstanding detail and very clever and original idea. Well done! Thanks for the nice compliment. You managed to capture a riot of colour in these leaves and as you say the moss is a bonus as it softens the concrete.

This is a very original and beautiful photo about the autumn colours. And they are more than orange.
The composition is great, with the two 'triangles' of leaves at the lower corners.

This is a very attractive and out of the ordinary autumnal composition. I like the way you have placed the steps diagonally across the frame; giving the image a certain dynamism. Also, the saturated colours and the beautiful detail in the leaves and the mossy covered steps.

You might want to fix the typo in the location as 'Vacouver' to Vancouver. A superb Fall colors shot. Hope the snow isn't as heavy in BC this winter, as it was last winter. Tfs!

This is the perfect representation of autumn. It is so simple, yet so well-composed and presented. I like the way the horizontal rows of the steps are broken up by the vertical line of leaves on the left side of the frame. The colors are beautiful, and the moss does add nice texture to the scene. You have a good eye!

Cette photo est une merveille. J'aime la composition, le graphisme et, bien sûr, les couleurs. Les escaliers partagent la surface en zones de couleurs faites par les feuilles mortes.

This image proves that simple little things that we often pass up right under our feet can be beautiful if we take the time to notice. Your composition is very nice here, the way the leaves on the bottom right and left form a V pattern, framing the rest of the image. The diagonal angle toward the steps adds to the effectiveness of the composition. Those vibrant colors of the leaves and the greens of the mosses make this a visually pleasing image. Very nice.
