Photographer's Note

Once again something completely different. I bring you this electricity pole as an alternative Christmas tree. It could be found anywhere in Asia or Africa, but this one happens to be from Dhaka, Bangladesh, way back in 1972.

By hooking their own lines to the municipal lines people get free electricity to their homes. I don't know exactly how it is done, and I wouldn't try it. I get a feeling it could be dangerous.

But let this alternative Christmas tree be a symbol of the light that I hope will fill your homes and the heat that will fill your stoves when cooking your food for the holidays.

I wish a Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it, and a nice weekend to everyone else.

I have scanned this dull photo from an Orwo B&W negative. Orwo was made in East Germany and I had probably bought that roll in India. Here is an even bigger version.
