Photographer's Note
Rice is the dominant food crop of Bangladesh, accounting for about 75 percent of agricultural land use . It is eaten twice and sometimes three times a day, providing about 70 percent of an average person's total calorie intake. The quality varies. The finer grain is normally only used for weddings and funerals. - Tahirpur bazar.

Hello, Elaine!
Interesting daily life scene captured, and interesting and informative note about the production of rice in Bangladesh! The framing is very nice, and so are the colors and sharpness! Beautiful job!

Hello Elaine,
A fairly plain but attractive photo from the market. Again you have a good eye-contact, the view is nicely framed by the green poles and the three baskets are neatly placed in front of the salesman. I think overweight Bangladeshis would find problems going on an LCHF diet considering that rice is such a dominant ingredient in their meals.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello,
Fine capture of this rice seller, a common image there as I know. A fine everyday moment.

Great portrait and everday life scene in one.
I experienced this sort of diet when staying with poor families in Nepal. It provides energy but misses many essential ingredients to ensure long healthy life. And even then... they cannot even afford finer grain on daily basis...
Best wishes

Hi dear Elaine
Another tasty Asian human story image as your life work. His expression and a little sad eyes are so attractive. The best portrait with nice surropundings.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hi Elaine
What immediately strikes me is, the way he displays his wares so nicely, obviously given great care in the presentation, then his intense expression and pose that really engages me. There is something very appealing about bamboo basket- natural and simple but practical. A great look into local life so pleasantly documented.
Congrats
PS: Back to your qry: I still have lots of raw images in my archive all taken before I joined TE in 2010, I feel worth sharing. Thanks Elaine
Best wishes

Hello Elaine,
I spent 3 days in Dacca in 2000 and we had Indian rice, Chinese rice, and Bangla style rice for meals each day. I like the inclusion of three baskets in the fg in front of the seated man. The repetition of tha sacks of rice behind him is also good. Tfs!
