Photographer's Note
Please open in a new tab.
Siem Reap is basically just the transport, accommodation and food centre for the Angkor Wat region so I didn't take many photos in the town as most of the interest is out of town.
One place we did have a wander around was the modern temple Wat Bo. The most striking feature near the temple were the masses of stupas, some of them in this photo.
In the workshop is one of the modern temples in the complex.

Ciao Ian, thank you for also showing us a part of the new Cambodia, with architectures that try to imitate the magnificence of the ancient temples, but without reaching it, WS is also beautiful, wonderful colors, excellent clarity, fine details and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Many stupa on the premises of the temple, in multi colors display, Ian.
Counted at least 20 of those shown here, but sure there are more around.
The edifice on the WS post looks as a relatively more modern building on that ground.
Have a nice friday,
Ike

Pozdrav.
Lepa arhitktura i zeleno drvece, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i dobrim tekstom.
Dobro uhvacen trenutak sa oblacima koji dolaze.
Dobar rad sa lepom fotografijom u radionici sa modernim Hramom.
Zelim vam sve najbolje za vikend.

Hello Ian,
I took exactly one picture in Seam Reap and I'm not sure that one is worth showing here. For travellers SR is indeed the transport, accommodation and food centre for visiting Angkor Wat and the centre is small where you can do everything on foot.
Yet today the city has grown into the third city in the country. Between 1998 and 2005 the population has increased by 40%.
I noticed that SR was a lot bigger than the centre where the tourists came. But most of it is absolutely uninteresting compared to its surroundings and so many other places in the country.
I think these stupas at a temple have a name but cannot find that anymore.
The whole is a beautiful sight.
Nice with the green background.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ian,
These photos and the note made me have a look at my own photos. I found that I took 6 photos while in SR, four of which from Wat Bo. Just like everybody else I found this city totally uninteresting. But these stupas are nice, mainly because of their many different colours.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Ian,
For a place which held little interest for you, this was different. I was curious, wondering why the stupas were different colours; perhaps we will never know! They do make a very colourful photograph, well composed on the angled line.
The temple in the w/s looks to be a very modern, well kept building, decorated with more geometric shapes than the animals and figures of older buildings.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Ian,
The trees are framing well the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the stupas. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian,
Good use of repetition as a theme. Excellent colour, sharpness and framing. The more modern gold and bronze painted stupas at right contrast well with the blue sky. Tfs!

Hello Ian, interesting that the stupas are in a variety of colours, and also in slightly different shapes.
I will probably never visit Cambodia so it is great to see your shots.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian,it almost seems like a place where stupas are sold, considering the quantity and volume. A leap into modernity after so many millenary times, even what you show in the WS is really modern. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Ian,
it would be hard for me to decide which are old and which are new, but they are all certainly very photogenic and they make a nice repeated motif in the frame.
Lovely sky and light in general.
Excellent reportage,

Hello Ian, Interesting view of these stupas, they look quite new, and with these colours a bit like from plastic. But nice anyway.
Best regards MAlgo
