Photographer's Note
XI'AN is the capital of Shaanxi province. Looking at the map of China, you will find the city located more or less in the middle of the country. The city feels like a crossroads of civilisations, with lots of ancient Chinese culture and a lively muslim quarter too.
---
THIS PICTURE was shot in Xian's muslim district. In its main street there usually are plenty of food stalls. This baker sells flat breads, as you'd find in the far western regions of China (and beyond), mainly in Xinjiang. The Han Chinese don't really have a tradition for bread. For Han and tourists alike the far west begins here in Xi'an.
Tasty stuff!

Hello again,
This is a very nice street (or bazaar) photo entirely to my liking. It's well composed, nicely cropped and the light is well handled. Looking at those probably delicious breads makes me wonder if this was where Marco Polo (or whoever) got the idea for pizzas.

Gert

Hello Benny, an informative note accompanies your shot. Interesting comment that the Han Chinese don’t really have a tradition of bread, I expect that rice is their staple food?
The bread looks inviting, he has plenty for sale. Did you buy some and try it?
Lovely shot of the food stall.
Kind regards, Jean.

Goedenavond Benny,
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Oost-Vlaanderen,
John

Hallo Benny,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Benny
Some of the bread (the front ones) is similar to what I saw in Uzbekistan. A good photo of daily life.

Hello Benny, I was, of course, in the Muslim district in Xian. Interesting stall and beautiful mosque in the style of a Chinese pagoda. Here nice scene with the baker selling bread that looks like Italian pizza or maybe Armenian bread.
When in East countries, after some days I miss our bread with cheese. But in Chine, always one can have delicious 饺子.
Have a nice new week

Hi Benny
A lovely capture of local life made me hungry for warm freshly baked bread and a great concentration of the baker. Excellent work

Hi Benny,
Great capture of a man at work and with the repeated motif of the traditional bread. I would like to taste it :)
Nice asymmetric composition with the bread almost filling the whole frame,

I didn't see these breads while in the local market, maybe it was in the other part of the muslin town. looks like they are delicious, but this can be a mistake, many food in china can be beautiful, but not fitted to my taste.
take care

Hello Benny,
These breads are a combination of food and art, and they look great presented this way. I like how you have the seller off to the side and reaching out, too. I imagine that fresh discs of bread like this must be delicious. Take care!

Hello Benny,
The loaves in the front look like "pide," baked only during Ramadan in Turkey. It all looks yummy!
