This is an annual affair happen in the first Month of New Year in the Tibetian CalanderrnrnThousands of Tibetan buddhist in The A Ba perfecture in Sichuan. Gather as the first rays of SUNLIGHT strike the giant THANGKA of the BUDDHA, which was unfold on the hillside opposite the Monastery.rnrnReligious unfoldingrnTibetan monks unfold a giant thangka, a religious silk embroidery or painting displaying the Buddha portrait, amid snowfall at the Lamasery during the Sunbathing Buddha Festival.rnrnBodhisattvasrnBelievers and tourists alike hiked up the mountain in the pale, pre-dawn light, hoping to see the sun light up the thangka.rnrnAs well as a Buddha image, a thangka can depict influential lamas, deities, or bodhisattvas, or sometimes a complex mandala.rnrnThe processionrnThe huge painting was carried to the ceremonial site in the early morning by dozens of Tibetan monks
