Photographer's Note
One more from the backlog, this also a smartphone camera so quality is so-so...
I spent some time in various shipyards in southern China as well, this time at a yard very close to Shenzhen.
What facinates me is how quickly what once was the sleepy village that got status as a city ion 1979 has grown into the 12.5 million metropolis it is today.
The growth is visible as the city has a mix of the traditional and the ultra modern.
In my opinion though I would say that Shenzhen sits comfortably alongside Shanghai at being two of the least chinese places in China.

Hi Odd,incredible concrete invasion in this city, just a village 40 years ago and now a very big one. The large view is perfect to understand what happens there in the last years, and the quality of sharpness is excellent, your camera phone works in a good way, just the colors seems a but cold. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Odd Jarle,
If ever the description 'concrete jungle' needs to be applied, I suggest that it works here.
The skyscrapers crowd together, each seeming to be a replica of the former!
What a change must have occurred in a very short time.
I wonder how well the local people were able to adapt to these massive changes; in most cultures, changes have happened over a 'relatively' long time.
Your phone has made a fine photograph, sharp with a good depth, easy for us to assess.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi OJJ
interesting comments about it being a less Chinese Chinese city, I wonder what you mean by that, and if you could elaborate a little more :) This is a concrete jungle for sure, something I enjoy very much. The 5 buildings on the right are a bit white washed out, but that's probably due to the type of exterior they're using as it conflicts with the light. Nice modern additions on the left. It would be interesting to see this exact same view today, 4 years later to see the increased development. cheers

Hello Odd Jarle,
I was surprised to travelling through Chima in 2017 to see all these towering flats, identical in rows like here, sometimes in the middle of nowwhere.
Good panoramic view.
Thanks and regards,
Gerrit

Hello my friend
the title is really impressive..
Instead of growing trees in our days
we see growing only high constructions...
I like your thoughts as following...
what fascinates me is how quickly what once
was the sleepy village that got status
as a city on 1979 has grown into 12,5 million
metropolis

Hi Odd
Incredible how so many Chinese cities have grown. I was going to blame the quality on the pollution but the photo is sharp and interesting.
cheers

Hello Odd
A beautiful panorama photo of Shenzhen. On the right we see the monotonous architecture of the city that is being built at a rapid pace, but if we look to the left we see a number of attempts to build a little more varied.
Fortunately no smog here that makes it difficult for the photographer.
Well done
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Indeed, the transformation from what must have been a small city to what we can see in this photo over forty years sounds like a miracle, part of China's mind-blowing growth. It's difficult to comment on the quality looking on it on a small laptop screen. But I know that I like the composition and the raised viewpoint as well as the panoramic format which gives an impression of a vast area filled with tall buildings and illustrates your note perfectly.
Best wishes
Kasia
