Huanglong Autumn, a photo from Sichuan, Central

Photographer's Note

We were really lucky to have a wonderful clear day in Huanglong, at the altitude of of over 3000 meter, it is often cloudy here. In the morning on our way there it was cloudy and seem as if it would rain, but by the time we were here, it cleared up exposing the beautiful view of the mountain and peaks other than the wonderful travertine pools and fall colors.

Huanglong has been acknowledged for its karst features such as travertine pools and limestone shoals. Calcite deposition has lead to the pools being rich in algae and minerals, which results in orange, yellow, blue and green waters. The site is located in the North-West of China’s Sichuan Province about 2 hours from Juizaiguo valley.

the landscape is splendid,with this clear blue water on the foreground,and the mountains at the horizon.And the automnal colors under the deep blue sky emphasize this natural beauty.I wanted to go there,but didn't have enough time.There is an incredible sharpness on your picture,even the small waves of the water are perfectly visible.This is wonderful.

Love this sort of picture - most people do, which is why postcards sell so well and this is a perfect postcard shot. There is a sense of great outdoors in this and it is very pleasing to look at. and there is enough compositional intrigue to hold attention. The foreground blue pool, being integral part of the shot anchor the eyes and meander towards the distant mountain. We all attempt to capture this sort of vista while off travelling and this is pretty much what most people aim for, such a photogenic and contains all the right elements. The contrasting colors works particularly well and the tones and autumnal colours are so pleasing whilst the distant mountains are inviting. This is wonderful capture, Congrats

I was in Jiuzhaigou but unfortunately had not enough time to go to Huanglong. Amazing photo with so many plans. EWonderful travertine pools like in Turkey, but with these clear turqoise water as in Jiuzhaigou and forest and mountains with different colours. Gorgeous photo, sharpness colours, composition - all perfect.

The image consists of beautiful layers. Not only
with subjects, but also with colors ( a double party

wow, this is an unearthly landscape again. I love the terraces in the foreground, it is so unusual. Almost two years ago I have visited the calcium terraces in Turkey and then I got interested more in the subject. I read there are some in China but this is the first great picture which I see from this place. The colors are stunning, starting from the bluish foreground till the sky. Having the autumnal colors makes it even more colorful. If I ever get to China I will definitely come back to your gallery and probably I would follow your route. It seems it was a fabulous trip.

I am a fan of the landscape in USA, and I know China is also very rich on nature, but somehow I just can't get that same feeling. Probably too attached to the US... I know TE is not overloaded with Chinese nature pictures, so I tried searching for China to see what they had to offer, and I ended up looking at this one. Certainly as beautiful as Yosemite on its best!

So this is for me the proof that China also has a magnificent landscape. A great picture from a region I would love to see more from.

PS. Sometimes I wonder why the snow is so gray. Is it really pollution from a nearby city? Up here, some glaciers turned gray because of ashes from the eruption on Iceland last year, so it could be. I just think this seems so be kind of an Asian thing... but probably not.
Anyway, I like the picture a lot!

Another priceless landscape from you! I can only look at awe at the wonder nature has created & how you've brought it to us.
The blue waters wit the solidified calciferous divides lead us to the wide V created by the line of trees onto the mountains. Even though light seems to be harsh, you had done wonderfully well (as always). Excellent!
