Photographer's Note
The Rainbow Pride Walk, Calcutta 2006.
Calcutta, known to be the city with a tradition for tolerance, witnessed it's seventh Rainbow Pride Walk...in 2006. It is the only city in India, so far, to have hosted such an event.
Years ago, on June 27, 1969 , LGBT people had publicly protested police harassment in New York , a daily routine in their lives at the time.
These pride walks are a fallout of the New York incident held all over the world ever since..
To quote one participant: "The pride march is in celebration of our sexuality. To walk on the streets is a political move, to declare publicly our different sexual preferences."

a great framing for me... this extraordinary expression. Great photo for a great message about tolerance, and open mind but also respect.

Hi Sid,
Interesting picture, but unfortunately for me, it falls a little short. I am sorry - I do not know hoe to critique this properly, as I think mr. Luko/sohrab might be better here. A little too much black I think.
Also, aside from the person looking right into the lens, it is not very clear what the occasion is...
Would be interested to see more though...

very interesting take. like the the use of darkenss and light here for the composition. something different from my city, seems the resonance of pride has caught up well.

Well, I like the composition of this photo quite a bit. The foreground interior beautifully frames the woman (man?)'s face on the outside.
[But as a social documentary, it is not very eloquent about the subject matter you write of]

I partialy agree with Kaj but this is really intresting Photo.
They are much excitd since you pointed camre to those girls than you are ridding in truck.
But it has smoothness & flow..A sort of softness & freshness.
nice capture Sidd.
Keep it up.

Really dig this Sid, love the extra amount of black on the inside of the car, which drives all our attention to the pride walk outside. Top work.

Totally missed this one, Sid, really sorry. My kind of picture - cinematic, involving, plunging us right into the scene. Sharpness could be better but... like I said in my intro a while back: sharpness isn't everything ;o)
Best,
Francis

Hi Siddhartha,
Wonderful work friend. There is something in it which I can not express in words may be, but it struck me instantly when I saw it. The frame within the frame, the driver, the look of the person - everything wonderful. I read your reply to Animesh da. I think you have started a wonderful series indeed. Best
